From our well received slightly early check in to the relaxed departure this has been a very pleasant stay.The room is clean and comfortable with a window onto a small courtyard. Our night was quiet and restful.The staff we met were friendly and welcoming.We would recommend a stay here.

Conveniently located accommodation, Exeter St David's & Central railway stations, City Centre all within 10-15 minutes walking radius. The promised refurbishment of the rather tired decor would be welcomed. Though the single room I occupied was quiet small, it was comfortable, clean & the important facilities (shower, toilet etc) worked as expected. Breakfast time seemed slightly disorganized, the set up could be better explained for guests. However, all staff members were friendly & helpful, the food offering of decent standard, in particular the full English. For the music nerds & pop culture curious the Telstar/Joe Meek connection is fun, maybe more could be made of it.

This is an ideal place to stay for easy access to the city centre and the University of Exeter campuses. It's a short walk from the Exeter St David's station, if you are travelling by bus or train. The guest house team are friendly and put on a generous breakfast spread. Rooms are comfortable and well equipped for short stays in the city.

Great location - easy to walk from Exeter St Davids station, & easy to walk to the meeting I was attending near the city centre.My very clean single room, with en-suite, provided everything that I needed. The lovely warm welcome, and approachable, friendly staff, were very much appreciated. I'll certainly stay again when travelling to Exeter. (Also, a short walk away is The Imperial - a Weatherspoons pub, in a fabulous old building)

What a great B&B. Parking at the rear, shared bathroom very close and separate toilet next to it. Comfy beds, coffee, kettle and mugs of a decent size. Tv in just the right place and wifi easy to access. Lovely clean rooms. English breakfast... yum ... and to top it off, friendly,efficient staff who were very helpful.Full marks!

I enjoyed my stay: the bed linen was nice, the towels bright white, the room was very clean (particularly the bathroom), free wifi, speedy and friendly checkin. I liked a lovely bright cushion on my bed.I’m also grateful for booking taxi on my behalf. The hotel is 5-7 min walk to the city centre. My room faced the road, so it was a bit noisy but then I’m spoilt for living in a very quiet place. I’d definitely recommend this place - it was a good value for money and a pleasant experience.

Ideally located and easily found by car gps. Only 10 minute walk from lovely town centre. Plenty of bars and restaurants. I only stayed one night but lovely room and breakfast. Highly recommend

Stayed here as was travelling to Sandy Park for rugby. Good location for getting match day bus and only 10 minute walk into town. Room was clean and shower was hot, nice breakfast, attentive staff and made to feel welcomed. Rooms upstairs do get hot but a fan is provided so not a problem. Will stay again next time I'm in Exeter for the rugby.

Great little find. Perfect for walking into the city for shopping or up to the University. Near to a large Wetherspoons if that’s your thing. Hosts were really friendly, clean room and nice breakfast! Amazing views from the back of the hotel.

We stopped for just a night on our way to an event in Cornwall. Very friendly welcome from Sam. Alleyway to the rear car park was quite tight and our car didn't fit the available spaces, but Sam provided us with a complimentary resident's permit and we easily parked on the street a couple of minutes' walk away. Room 10 was small but comfortable with a great view away from the city towards the countryside. Nicest touch in our room was a small record player and crackly old vinyl to play with a morning cuppa! Friendly and accommodating staff at breakfast and good food. We will stay again.

I stayed in a single room with ensuite. Whilst small, it had everything I needed and was very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and amazing value for money. The cafetiere and fresh coffee was a nice touch.The owners/staff were very friendly and helpful, especially at breakfast. Breakfast itself was excellent, with a good choice, high quality and freshly-cooked ingredients, and a flexible approach that the chain hotels could learn from! Free parking was a bonus (albeit a little tricky in the car-park itself, which is best suited for small cars - unavoidable at the site). I'd definitely stay again.

Very comfortable guest house, deceptively big with parking at rear & pleasant courtyard area. Close to St David's railway station & Exeter University - easy walk to centre. Spotless room, very helpful reception. Didn't have breakfast as I left early but it looked & smelt delicious! Would definitely stay here again.

I loved this small hotel. A warm welcome. My bag carried up the stairs. Quirky fresh decor. Dinky but very comfortable room, fresh and clean and inviting soft furnishings. All I might want in the room eg. Kettle, cafetière, tea, hair dryer, to, bedside lighting easy to switch off, a fan, a wonderful view, good mugs, information, map of Exeter… I could go on. Then there was breakfast amazing and included and 5 star. Thank you.

This place was wonderful, the atmosphere throughout is lovely, it is small but spacious in the breakfast and garden areas. Our room was tastefully decorated beds were comfortable and everything was clean and tidy, we had plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The shower was hot and powerful which is a welcome change for some hotels/guest houses.The staff were always friendly and couldn’t do enough to help.Breakfast was amazing especially for the price you pay, all cooked and served hot and fresh.

Staff were very welcoming at this immaculate guesthouse. Beautifully laid out with a little courtyard the bedroom was very clean with an absolutely huge double bed. Rocking chair by the window and entrance suite bathroom made this the perfect place to stay for our visit. For just £5 pp extra there was a full English breakfast with all the trimmings in the lovely dining room. Very central with free visitor parking we will definitely book this the Telstar again.

The Telstar was Amazing; the reception gentleman waited for me until late for check in and also gave me a free street parking permit as their parking was full. The room and shower/toilet was clean, well equipped and the free breakfast was sumptuous with the ladies serving with a smile. Would definitely come again.

Only the one night, but everything was perfect. The room was great, with added extras that you wouldn't get in a chain hotel, the bed was comfortable and an excellent breakfast in the morning.

The hotel was clean and nicely presented. The tripleroom is well as being 3 adult friends. Staff were polite and friendly and the full English breakfast offered for £5 per person was good value for money. Would recommend and will be using again when next in the area.

A really pleasant stay; clean rooms, good bed, warm shower. We had the family room: parents room and an attached room for our daughter. Very ideal. The breakfast was excellent: yoghurts, cereals, fresh fruits, vegatarian English breakfast. The hotel is very near the old and new town with lots of restaurants and cafes. We really recommend this hotel. Last but not least: friendly staff! We could leave our luggage behind while exploring the city.

We loved our stay at Telstar, the B&B is absolutely lovely and our room was very cosy and sweet. We had a great English breakfast as well! Amy was extremely nice and welcoming, we would definitely love to come back!The only thing to be aware of is that some rooms don’t have private bathrooms (we shared ours with another room but the bathroom was super clean and we didn’t even cross the other travellers - but unfortunately we ran out of hot water in the middle of a shower because someone else was using hot water at the ground floor…)Apart from that, you can go with your eyes closed!

Small, simple, en-suite single-bed room.Evertything was spotlessly clean.Comfy bed I appreciated the cotton sheets and soft comforter.Although on the main road, the room was quiet and I wasn't waken up by an noises - outside or inside.Nice range of complimentary warm drink selection.I would recommend the Telsar and will use it again.

Lovely hotel situated very conveniently for stations and town centre. Traditional Edwardian themes inside with a lovely lounge and breakfast room. Surprisingly good WiFi too. As a frequent Exeter visitor was a welcome break from the big named hotels.

The location is good, very close to Exeter St David's Station, with friendly welcoming staff. The room was clean and comfortable if a little dated in decor; we did have to ask for another towel as there weren't enough initially (and they were a bit old and worn, the extra one was much fluffier!) but the shower gels/ lotions were nice and the shower itself was very good.We got a nice bottle of wine for a very reasonable price at reception.A special mention must go to the breakfast, which was absolutely excellent, with locally sourced ingredients. We'd definitely stay here again.

We stayed for one night and found the Telstar very comfortable, clean and well situated, being easily walkable to the city centre and St Davids Railway Station.We liked the artwork and the layout, and the breakfast was excellent.

I stayed for one night in a small en-suite, my son was also staying in another single en-suite. This was our second stay. The location is great, easy access to the railway station and a short walk to the city centre - despite this, it is also pretty quiet and I slept well. The rooms are comfortable, with all the necessary basics provided. The cleanliness is excellent. Breakfast was enjoyable, the service friendly and helpful - I'm vegan and it was great to have a decent breakfast option. We look forward to staying again!

I recently stayed at The Telstar for a weekend trip to visit the city and the theatre. My friend and I had a wonderful stay. The Telstar is a short 10 minute walk into the center of Exeter.The car park facility is a good addition, although a tight turn to access it in a larger vehicle (they did send an email to let us know this), it was a pleasant change to have free parking in a city.The staff were all so friendly and helpful. And the breakfast was delicious, with plenty of food choices. Would highly recommend.

What a wonderful, quirky hotel! We loved the homely feel and friendly, accommodating staff. Initially we’d booked a room for two adults, two children and two dogs, however, when we arrived the staff offered us our own two bedroom apartment with small private garden, which was perfect for our dogs.The breakfast was plentiful and delicious with cereal, fruit, cooked breakfast and fresh juice available. The only downside was the rubbish strewn across the parking area which was not at fault of the hoteliers. It was a perfect stopover for our journey to Cornwall.

This place is my favourite. Clean and stylish rooms. Thick towels, the proper ground coffee and cafetiere in the rooms, the beautiful general seating area downstairs, the excellent wine available for a nightcap. But best of all, the lovely staff!

We have stayed here a few times now, I and my partner are in Cornwall and I have family in Gloucestershire and Dorset so it’s an ideal place to meet in the middle. The Telstar is clean, comfortable, welcoming and pleasingly quirky in some of its furnishing and artworks.The lounge and dining room are very pleasant and well laid out and the cooked breakfast is very nice indeed; there is also a good choice of cereals, fruit salad, yogurt etc.My room was small but perfectly adequate for a two-night stay; other double rooms are probably bigger but any longer would have felt a bit cramped as hanging space was limited and there was not a lot of floor space around the comfortable double bed.One thing that might be improved upon is parking instructions for new guests.There is space for, I think, six cars around the back but it is not obvious how to get there and, as far as I could tell, kerbside parking is limited to permit holders.Overall, a pleasant stay though and I would book there again for a short stay.

Stayed here for one night, friendly accommodating staff, they’re dog friendly!The night was nice and quiet, only problem was that the bathroom being freezing cold, though to be fair it’s freezing cold outside right now, so not surprised. The breakfast in the morning was good as well, we had full english, other options were also available.

My daughter and I really enjoyed our 2-night stay. Our room was warm and comfortable. The breakfast choice was great, and I particularly loved the fruit salad! We were really grateful that we could check in early with our luggage. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

Had a lovely stay at The Telstar Hotel in Exeter.This is a small hotel at most 10 mins walk from Exeter St David's and approx 10 mins safe walk along well lit and used streets to the town centre.This Edwardian hotel is stylishly decorated and renovated without being precious. I chose it because of its proximity to the station.It was nicely warm (a big issue in Jan).The price was amazing value considering my room was ensuite and a good quality cooked breakfast with good filter coffee, yogurt and prunes were provided in the price.The staff also were lovely.The rocking chair and working record player and LPs were a nice touch as well as the hotel information book in each bedroom.Loved the old fashioned phone which worked to call reception.Would be good to include WiFi password in the information bookas well as providing this on arrival.

I had to travel down to Exeter short for a trip to the hospital and quickly booked somewhere close to the station with a good rating. Telstar exceeded my expectations. It's charming, clean facilities, a great breakfast and lovely staff.

After a long drive my immediate reaction to arriving at The Telstar Guest House was how grateful I was to have a free parking space (to the rear of the property) in Exeter.The Telstar felt warm and inviting. Staff greeting me were friendly and helpful and my room an ensuite single was perfect for my two night stay.I very much liked the decor of The Telstar especially the nods towards the Alice in Wonderland story.There was a great choice at breakfast andeverything I ate was well cooked and tasty.I very much enjoyed my stay and the fact it was within easy walking distance (approx 15 minutes) to the cathedral.My two night stay was good value for money too.I have already recommended The Telstar Guest House to friends and family.

Myself and a friend stayed here for one night during a shopping trip to Exeter. We found our room clean and comfortable, and thought the guest house to be very charming. It was in a brilliant location so we could walk easily into the city, and our hosts offered us a map on our arrival which was useful. Parking was a little tight but I cannot complain as it is free and secure. Breakfast was very tasty and set us up for the day. I would be mindful if you struggle with mobility because of the stairs/multi-level flooring. We would definitely come back! Thank for for a great stay.

Breakfast was great and also good to have somewhere to park the car. The Room was small, despite paying to upgrade. Shower was very weak and difficult to control the temperature. Location good - ten minute walk to town.

We loved the Telstar!It was warm and cozy during our stay at the end of November, breakfast was delicious, and the beds were comfy.We had a family room, and the beds were perfect for us, with three young children who like to sleep close together.It might have made for rather tight quarters for a family with older children though.Also, the hall and stairs are very narrow, so we ended up parking our stroller in the common lounge area.This was all fine for us, though.We did not have a car, but used public transport, and the guesthouse is in a really good spot for this, about five minutes walk from St. David's train station, and about ten minutes walk to the center of town.

'What a great find' one of my friends commented! We've recently returned from our annual Christmas shopping weekend and stayed in this this lovely, cosy B&B. It is situated approx a 10 minute walk from Exeter St Davids train station and a 10-15 minute walk into the city centre which was great for us. It was warm and cosy and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We had rooms on the ground floor which were spacious and had everything you might want; tea making facilities, tv, hairdryers and the beds very comfortable. We included the breakfast and it was superb with lots of choice. All in all we had a fab weekend away, thank you!

I had not stayed at a 'traditional BnB' for a long time! Having been an alumnus of the university and indeed returning to Exeter for 'university business' this stay was a little like travelling back in time. Location is ideal for all of the uni, town and station. Service and breakfast were both very good. Room was warm and comfortable (just wish I had had own bathroom, but for one night it was OK).

Wow what an amazing little find. We had a family room for 4 friends meeting up for some time together.The room and bathroom was clean and comfortable with all we needed for a base. The morning breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices.The staff were so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Including directions for the simple 10/15 minute walk into Exeter Centre.Would definitely highly recommend.

What a great find. I am an experienced traveller (I just earned my senior railcard) and try to stay in places that make an effort. They don't need to be fancy but they treat you as a human being and take care. I really liked the Telstar - I just stayed for one night but found the staff friendly and efficient, the room clean and comfortable and breakfast really good. And it is very close to Exeter St Davids.I recommend it

Lovely period building 5-10 minute walk from station, rooms bright and airy, beds, linen spotless. Shower did the job and the breakfast well worth the money, plenty of choice on menu. Granddaughter loved her poached eggs!! Warm reception and this is now our go to place when next in Exeter. We had twin room and family room for 5 of us, good value. Love the fact that owners are going to restore period features. (TV reception bit problematic)

Coming to Exeter for a birthday celebration, just needed a bed for the night. I had a tiny but charming ensuite room with a comfy bed and somewhere to hang a wet raincoat to dry. Hot breakfast in the morning was a bonus, a perfectly cooked meal that set me up for the day. All in a beautiful and comfortable old house. To cap it all, a good deal cheaper than the modern box of a hotel down the hill by the station. Well worth the short uphill walk! Recommending the Telstar to anyone who will listen.

The family room of 5 was very clean. The free parking was very handy too. The hotel is very close to the centre so we were able to walk anywhere we wanted to. It was very calm. The staff was extremely nice and helpful.

My son an I stayed at the Telstar as we went to the Exeter University open day.The hotel was parfect for our overnight stay, very comfortable and we were made very welcome by the staff.The breakfast was great and kept us going all day.Because we were going to arrive late we oganised a late check in and they were very accomodaing.We would not hesitate to re-visit.

Perfect for our stay in Exeter. I was visiting my daughter who is at Exeter University. I stayed in a twin bedroom with my son. It was just what we wanted. Comfortable, friendly, good value and convenient for the train station and the university. The breakfast was excellent. I will be staying again.

Beautiful house, just ten minutes walk from the Phoenix (for a gig). My single room was small, but comfortable, with a shared bathroom between mine and one other room. There was an extra toilet, so no need to worry if someone else got there first! Teas & coffees, and a wash-basin in the room. I had two lovely breakfasts, too! Exceptional value, for 2 nights so close to a city centre!Highly recommended

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Telstar. We stayed in one of the family arrangements (2 bedrooms with a shared bathroom) at the back of thebuilding. The location was remarkably quiet despite being one hill up from the train station. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, and nice touches like real ceramic mugs for the in-room tea and coffee options. The bath had beautiful tiling and the shower's water pressure and temperature capacity were better than most hotels!We enjoyed getting to pass through the lovely central courtyard to breakfast, which was delicious, and the staff kind and welcoming. We particularly appreciated their generous offer to downgrade us to a smaller family room when one member of our group had to cancel a few weeks before our visit. We would absolutely return.

We stayed in one of the suites and everything was just perfect. Beds were very comfortable, rooms super clean and lovely decor. Welcome coffee tea water etc in the room. For a single traveler, the Telstar will exceeded expectations. Minutes away from the train station but miles away from the noise. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Suggestions for improvements would be upgrades to the plumbing and upgrades to the in room electric plug ins and safes to secure travel documents and valuables, but the worth $$.

It is a small but very nice hotel. I especially liked the retro look with an old style telephone and a gramophone in the room that still works! The amenities and breakfast etc. are standard.

I stayed in a small single room for three nights and it had everything I needed - desk and chair, TV, Wifi, en suite bathroom and fan. The breakfast had a good selection as well. I would definitely stay again. My only complaint was the chair in my room being a bit unstable.

Attention to details: room decoration, quality of towels, gel/shampoo/hand gel and cream, details not usual in these hotels that will compensate for the small size of the rooms.Great kindness at the reception, very good breakfast with fresh fruit salad and plenty of choices. Parking was tight but well organised.

Our room wasn't large but quite big enough for our short stay. The bed was very comfortable, the shower worked well, the breakfasts were varied, freshly cooked, and/or lovely healthy fruit salads, and very good value. The staff were friendly too, and catered to my wife's wheat and dairy allergies. A word of warning about parking though; there is some but if you're a cautious driver or have too big a car you'll find this a challenge. But parking this close to the centre is a bonus anyway. Finally, if you get room no. 10 you can sit out on your own verandah enjoying the evening sun !

Ideally situated for walking from the station and into the city centre. I had a sweet little room at the top of the 2 storey building which was immaculately clean and well stocked with teas, a cafetière, and hair dryer and fan.All the staff were kind and helpful and the breakfast was delicious and I had a lovely view overlooking the well stocked patio. I felt very safe staying here as an older singlefemale.It made such a wonderful change from the anonymous type of accommodation thatis usually on offer at my price range. I was told that the room would be small prior to arrival so I knew what to expect. Thank you.

Great staff, great location, great prices. It's a traditional B&B style hotel and may be a bit dated or old fashioned for some but personally speaking it's perfect for what you need from somewhere to stay in the centre of Exeter. Highly recommended.

Stayed here on a Monday night travelling back home from Cornwall to break up the travelling. Lovely hotel and staff. Rooms are clean, tidy and nicely decorated. Breakfast is lovely and all locally sourced. Not the most Morden hotel but full of character and I really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend if you want to stay somewhere a bit more local. The staff really do care about there guests and are very attentive. Thanks to Ben and the team.

I enjoyed my 7 night stay at The Telstar. A small room, as I wanted, but very clean and functional that was serviced every day. Television and hot drinks also in the room. Perfect breakfast with a large choice of everything. Great service by the friendly staff. My go to place whenever I am in Exeter. Already looking forward to my next visit.

It was a surprise when i came to the hotel. The lady was friendly and ley me in early what was welcomed as i was very tired. They put me in a little Rabbit Hole as they call it(smile) but is was enough place for a big boy like me. The hotel is full off love for details and ambience.. and i said it never before the bathroom was designed with love for details. Wonderful made to my taste. It was a short stay but will be remembered for a long time. Thank you maybe one day again

Have been travelling to Exeter for several years as my children all went to university here. Have stayed in several hotels in the city but this one quickly became the favourite. It’s quirky & unique with lots of character. Very close to the railway station and only a short walk from the city centre. The new owners are maintaining its unique character and making improvements too.

The owners were understanding in advance about my late arrival time, just after 9pm, allowing for my coach time.A friendly touch was that they were concerned in case I had got lost in Exeter and even phoned me to offer me directions!Admittedly I was nearby at that point anyway.Comfortable if compact room, good breakfast times and reasonable breakfast too.

I had a lovely stay! The staff were friendly and accommodating. I was very tired after a long and frustrating travel day, and was welcomed graciously. My room was cozy and comfortable (and very clean). Breakfast was delicious. I could not have had a more pleasant stay. If I visit Exeter again, this will be my hotel!

The staff was quite nice and accommodating. The establishment is being updated. Old but very clean and simple.

I had the small single room, on the second floor at the front of the hotel. This was very small, but quite adequate for a two night stay, with a small shower room. Being at the front, the room was a bit noisy with the traffic, but this is to be expected. Rooms at the back must have a super view out to the west over the river valley. Staff were all friendly and helpful, and they kept my luggage until early evening on my day of departure which was very helpful. The whole Guest House retains many period features (including narrow staircases!) which is definitely part of it's charm. A good value stay.

The Telstar is a lovely small hotel very close to the University with parking. I stayed overnight to break up the journey when collecting my daughter from University. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the breakfast was delicious. My room was clean with good amenities and I enjoyed an after dinner drink in the cosy lounge.

I liked the location which was close to the train station and only 10 minutes from the city. The staff were really friendly and breakfast was excellent. It was cooked to order. Very clean and a comfortable bed.My only negative would be that even with a fan going, the room was extremely hot.

I stayed at the Telstar as I was coming to Exeter for a job interview. It's a 5 min walk from the station and 5 minutes from the college so very handy location. My room was lovely. The bed was comfy, the shower was hot and powerful and towels fluffy.Tea coffee and hot choc available too. The breakfast was lovely and there was a good choice. I'd happily stay again.

I was happily surprised as how welcoming they were to me and my dog. The breakfast was outstanding. The pictures do not make justice to the accommodation. On my second night, I stayed in a single room with shared bathroom, but it did not feel as small as I thought it'd be because f the pictures. Kind people

I stayed here as a single female in one of the small single rooms.Be aware that these rooms are small but for the length of time I was in there it didn't really matter. The staff here are super friendly from the check in lady to the breakfast staff. The rooms and dining room are really clean.There is a good selection at breakfast including a gluten free.

Amy (I assume was Amy) was a wonderful host. Explained everything we needed to know and made our stay absolutely seamless. Accommodations were great. Bed was comfy, room was clean and quiet, in room coffee press w/ coffee grounds, tea, kettle and extra instant coffee was an added bonus. Breakfast was good and coffee was hot. The location was close to the river exe and to downtown. This was my wife’s second stay here and my first. We would gladly stay here again :) Amy also helped us out with laundering a pair of jeans… she was absolutely a wonderful host.

This little jewel of a guest house is perfectly situated for exploring Exeter.Their is a comfortable general lounge and the quality breakfast that is offered can hold its own with higher starred accommodation.The owners have added their own quirky decor to make you smile.The staff are friendly and helpful and go beyond the call of duty to make you welcome.We stayed in an ensuite double and there are also rooms that share bathroom facilities.The row of cinema seats outside the bathroom for those who are waiting is a fun touch.Great value for money and would recommend for short stays.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Telstar. The en-suite bedroom was spacious enough with two children and we found the dining room very welcoming. We played board games there in the evening. The staff was really nice and helpful. We recommend this beautifully decorated place !

We chose the Telstar because it was walking distance from the railway station. It is a small, very comfortable hotel in an older house. The people running it were very friendly and nice. We had a super English breakfast in the pleasant dining room. Definitely a positive experience and I would stay again.

Old school seaside charm in this beautiful Victorian building (actually, two Victorian buildings). Outstanding breakfast - staff could not have been more helpful.

We were looking for some to stay close to the University as my daughter was attending an open day.The Telstar did not disappoint it was very friendly, clean and cosy, the gentleman on the desk was vey helpful with directions to the University and the town and the breakfast was excellent, if my daughter does attend Exeter Uni then I will be definitely returning

There was a warm, friendly welcome as I checked into the Telstar hotel and a cheery tour to my room. Which was clean, comfortable and well provided. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom small but well appointed and sparkling. There were some lovely touches - as well as the standard tea and instant coffee, there was ground coffee and a cafetiere. My room had a balcony with chairs - not used on a chilly evening but would be smashing on a summer day.The hotel has plenty of character - a courtyard with water features and ferns, interesting decor points. I would recommend the Telstar unreservedly as an excellent place to stay in Exeter and I will certainly be booking there when I am next in the city.

I have stayed at Telstar Hotel a number of times, usually in Rooms 12 or this time, 6. The hook on the back of the door was good to hang a towel from. Room quite small otherwise and nowhere to put them except draped over a chair or the radiator. Room 6 is a bit chilly near to the window. I understand it's a 'listed' and characterful building so it's probably not possible to 'double glaze' or whatever would make this room a bit more draught proof. Breakfast very good as usual. Looking forward to my next stay!

The Telstar is a little gem of a B&B find!I needed a B&B for a few nights whilst visiting my student daughter in Exeter - found the Telstar via ExpediaBen and Amy and their staff are so friendly and welcoming.The room was small but en suite, very clean with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and the lovely touch of a daily replaced glass stoppered bottle of filtered water,and was ideal for a solo traveller.They said my daughter could join me for breakfast for a small fee which was wonderful! Delicious breakfast - a full English with whatever you wanted,with other options available buffet style;cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurts, fruit juice, filter coffee, tea, toast which set us up well for the day. Lovely bright dining room and comfy lounge adjacent to it, with a rustic feel all round.The Telstar is ideally located a 10 min walk from St David's Station and also walking distance from the city centre. Would highly recommend the Telstar and hope to stay there again soon!

I spent one night here last week with my family. My single room was fine. The guest house has a cosy, homely feel, with quirky and interesting art on the walls. Good value for money. Cooked breakfast was tasty, and I also had some fruit salad with yoghurt, a glass of orange juice, and coffee.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Telstar. The place was very clean and the staff were friendly and always happy to help. We will definitely go back.

This is a wonderful hotel worth twice the price. I had an executive single which was perfectly equipped and very cosy. Immaculate ensuite bathroom, lots of pillows, comfortable bed and nice view. The public areas are beautiful and tea and coffee freely available. The room came with full breakfast cooked to order which was delicious. Staff are very friendly and the Alice in Wonderland decor is delightful. The location is right by the train station and a few minutes walk to the old town center. So happy to have found this one!

The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was close by. Very clean. There were many guests and some went into the lounge while waiting for a table to be available forbreakfast. There was parking at the back of the guest house. Advised to arrive early to get a space.

We had room 15 and despite it was situated on the street side of the building, it was a quet room, clean as well, and yes, a bit small. I had chosen this Guest House for their breakfast and it came true! Excellent! I will recommand this Guest House to everyone who is not always bent on tremendous luxery, but likes a comfortable residence, nearby railway station and city centre.

A perfect place to stay in Exeter- within walking distance of the university and town but with parking too.The room was beautifully warm and very comfortable. Little personal touches (eg : offer of fresh milk for in-room hot drinks) were much appreciated. We would fully recommend the Telstar.

I have stayed at this Hotel several times, i always enjoy my stay as the rooms are very comfortable. Lots of breakfast choices plus tea and coffee, fruit juice, fresh fruit salad, cereals etc or cooked breakfast. Lovely friendly staff and very close to shops and railway, buses etc

I spent 4 nights there. Everything was very clean. Even the bathroom I was sharing with two other rooms was always clean.However my issue was that I was always very cold in my room. I had two heaters and three blankets and that was barely enough.Other thank that, everything was great: the breakfast has a large choice and the staff is lovely.I would recommend!

I stayed one night I found the room clean and comfortable. Plenty of tea and coffee making facilities.Unfortunately I can't comment on the breakfast I don't normally partake of breakfast.Overall my stay was good I found the staff pleasant and helpful I would recommend this hotel.

Was a lovely b&b with a warm cosy feel. Ideally positioned between Exeter St David Station and the main town. About 10 mins away from either 👏We had room 1 which was ground floor and it fulfilled all our needs. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty of choices.I would certainly recommend to anyone. It is the second time we have stayed at the Telstar Hotel with our teenage daughter. We like the Telstar Hotel as it’s very rustic and cosy. We particularly enjoy the decor and wooden floors. Home from home. We were offered coffee as soon as we arrived to drop off our cases before check in. Friendly smiles and heating full on and lovely on a very cold frosty day. Our room was cosy and we all had a good sleep and hot shower and were ready for a lovely day in Exeter. Nice walking distance too if we enjoy a nice 10 minute walk and get your circulation going. No double glazing but we love a tiny bit of ventilation as it’s more healthy. You can actually open the windows and that was great in the summer. Breakfast looked tasty but we intermittent fast!🥰 We’ve been to more ‘posh’ hotels but totally without character and clinical and don’t like it. We will definitely come back again. We have stayed here a few times (in fact, every time we come up to Exeter!) and not had a disappointing stay yet! Rooms are always clean, cosy and comfortable, there’s always a warm welcome on arrival and the owners are wonderful throughout and the breakfast is always great. Parking is an added bonus, especially as this was our first time staying with the little one. We have recommended the Telstar to family and friends and they have all had a wonderful stay too. This cozy B&B is well situated for easy walking access to both city center and the university.During my stay, the staff were responsive and friendly, my room (with en suite bathroom) was cozy and clean, and the breakfast was quick and tasty.I'm especially grateful for the assistance and reassurance in securing a taxi to take me to a remote bus stop for my departure during a rail strike.

I booked a night here after several sleepless nights at a nearby hotel. The staff were lovely, they heloed me try and get a refund after I accidentally booked the wrong night. The breakfast waa delicious, bright rooms in an old house. Would stay again.

I was initially disappointed as having specified that I wanted assurance of no human hair found anywhere in the room, often a feature of even the nicest , cleanedt hotels, as much as I hate to mention it there there was one staring at me on the shower door. I found this off putting and also found some small hairs in the washbasin. To the credit of the gentleman who told me he was " Sam" when I went back to the desk with my bag packed having already paid and simply asked if I could change rooms he stated that the only one he had was a twin. He didn't ask and I didn't say why as I did not wish to embarrass him. The other feedback which other customers have shared is that the picture of the double bed room with single occupancy which was proudly displayed next to my booking choice looked nothing like the room I was initially put in which had a single bed stuck with a double bed meant for at least a family of 3. I was paying more £78 for a double bed with single occupancy but not to have yet another bed in the room . As I say the pictures look better than the rooms and in my case I was given a different room to what I was shown.Thus place is most certainly not 4 stars and that is not to be unkind but just stating facts as it can have unrealistic expectations in the mind of the traveller which is not in the establishments interest. The room I was given next was fine. I had a comfortable sleep and what I am really thankful to the kitchen staff for is to serve me my favorite eggy bread! Not every hotel will.accommodate Eben such a simple request : they ll just have a robot like response and say one has to choose from the menu. The filter coffee wasn't particularly exciting but some places only have instantthe breakfast staff in particular all 3 ladies were friendly cheerful and accommodating and I said I d be back when they said yes to eggybread and also to porridge. Would I come back? I d like to but my pet peeve is that with a constant turnover housekeeping staff in most hotels are pressed for time. Ofcourse a thoroughly cleaned place can overlook a small thing but for many travellers not just myself staring at even an isolated hair not from their own body can just undo what is meant to be an enjoyable , reassuring and relaxing experience. So if they do take this constructive feedback on board and I can say that even with the room I was moved to the floor tiles whilst difficult to identify stains on could have been just a wee bit cleaner or look cleaner as some tiles just have a stubborn unclean look and my most sincerely meant feedback would be to then just make them look nicer than you d ordinarily need to. Why am I giving them 5 stars...because they have asked for feedback which is always a brave thing to do,they were friendly, they are genuinely 5 minutes away from the station as opposed to the understated distances one sees only to one s detriment (!), they were accommodating as I say the room was changed no questions askedbut mostly because I am from Pakistan and I grew up with having French toast and I find that having lived jEngland 30 years I have to celebrate when someone agrees to put a plate of what they call here " eggs bread" in front of me. Mind you we have sweet French toast in Pakistan so I had to tell the breakfast staff to add sugar to it which they did. It is a good choice of a hotel and I hope they will forgive the honest feedback of shy I wanted to change rooms given that that is a human error but one that travellers like me see more often than not so I have got to a stage that to not see a single hair feels like a feat. Thank you Sam and the friendly ladies at breakfast and I hope you ll get more customers as you are conveniently located and whilst I apologise for not agreeing with a 4 star rating I d definitely say a 3 star with a 5 star rating for a good attitude ( is it true that the record player I was pleases to find in my new room doesn't work as per a customer review who did say it was otherwise a cool touch ;)?), and yeshow did you guess for feeding me FRENCH TOAST. Hurrah!

My wife and I stayed at the Telstar in November. The place is clean and the members of staff we'd met were friendly. Full English breakfast is provided with a smile.

I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay at the Telstar Guest House. As I was arriving late, it was explained to me promptly how I can check in after 10pm and the staff were lovely. The room had everything I needed and the bed was very comfortable.

Lovely hotel, i enjoy staying with the Telstar as the people are lovely, great choices at breakfast, comfortable beds, very near the town centre so easy to walk but also plenty of trains uf you fancy days out. Exeter St Davids Station is only a 5 minute walk from the Hotel.

I stayed here for a second time, for two nights. The Telstar is a fine place to stay. I am a business traveller. The location is great, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The Telstar has a very unique approach, and each room feels bespoke. The ethos of the guest house is warm, creative, individual and welcoming. The Telstar is also very good value. We had a warm and cosy stay at Telstar guesthouse. The staff was so thoughtfull to make sandwiches -without asking- for us when we had to leave very early for getting to the bus. We liked the guesthouse, the room was good facilitated and will definitely recommend to stay here.

We booked the Telstar and it didn’t disappoint. Our room (14) was comfortable and clean with a view over the courtyard and beyond. We had a nice en-suite shower room. We were pleased to have complimentary drinks and toiletries.The breakfast was lovely with lots of choice and the position of the guest house was very convenient for a gig at The Phoenix.We are back in Exeter in a few weeks and would have stayed here again but they haven’t the room.Recommended

The first thing I noticed was how clean everything was. I stayed in the very small single room with ensuite. This room is very compact but perfectly adequate if you are only requiring to sleep. Every need seemed to be pre-considered in some way which I found impressive. Breakfast was perfect and really good. I may try to stay in a room away from the road next time but would stay again. Would definitely recommend this gem.

My room was described as ‘very small’ - maybe tiny describes it better - but was well-appointed and even had a little balcony. Surprisingly, I wasn’t bothered by the noise from the busy road. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and staff were very friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

Felt nice a safe staying here for a weekend of catching up with friends on my own. Room was nice and clean. I loved my single room with wash basin. Bed very comfortable. Shared toilet and shower lovely and clean. Breakfast was nice too. Parking was a bonus. If your room is facing the road as was mine, it can be a bit noisy with traffic at peak times plus students walking too and fro. But for the value of this little gem of a find, my ear plugs did the trick. Definitely would like to stay again.

Really well positioned for Exeter city centre, St David's train station and the university campus so good all round. Took my dog who was well looked after (given her own bowl of sausage in a spearate dog friendly brakfast area). Very quiet and big thumbs up from me. Also gave me parking behind the hotel

Booked for only one night but would have liked to have been staying longer. We were promptly welcomed in and shown to our room (no 10), which was at the back of the hotel and up a few stairs. We passed through a lovely open air inner courtyard on the way.Our room and en suite bathroom was compact but had everything in it that we needed and it was clean.It wasvery quiet when we stayed and we had a good, comfortable nights sleep. There was a lovely view from the room and an unexpected bonus was a balcony area with two chairs, and a table overlooking thefar reaching view.Unfortunately we didn’t get to make use of this or the dining experience as this was just a quick stopover for us. Have to say the dining room looked really nice though. I would stay again.

I spent a week touring from the Telstar and would definitely return if in the area again. It is a pleasant change to stay at an independent local business rather than at a hotel "chain" establishment. The Telstar is convenient for St David's station if you are using public transport with good bus services nearby too. I had a small ensuite single room which was perfect for my needs and serviced regularly. The breakfasts were excellent and most importantly all staff were friendly, engaging and went out of their way to be helpful ..... well done !

This is nearer to the centre of town than it appears on the map, so a great spot for access to everything while being placed on a pleasant lane away from the main street.The hotel room was very clean and comfortable, lots of tea and coffee supplied, and the breakfast was really good.All the staff were sweet and helpful; easy check in and check out.

My son and I stayed at The Telstar in order to visit the city and university. The hotel was well placed for both.They are very well organised. The hotel is larger than I thought which was fine and has a nice lounge/dinning room. The beds were clean and comfy, and the breakfast was good. The shower was hot and had good power to it. Plenty of towels and toiletries.It's obvious that the owners have put a lot of time and effort into The Telstar and care about the guests and neighbours. All much appreciated.The only things that I would say isIt wasn't immediately obvious vious how to get to the car park. But it was dark and raining when we arrived.Also as I don't drink tea/coffee I always appreciate a glass and bottle of water in a room.Minor things!

Stayed here one night on route back home from Exmouth. Single room was small but had all you need:-En suite,TV,Kettle-tea/coffee etc. even a small balcony overlooking the street. Within 5 minutes of St. David's Stn. and 10 minutes from City Centre.Breakfast was excellent with a choice of options. All staff were very welcoming too. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

We found the hotel great we went to watch a band it did exactly what we needed Car parking short walk to our venue & shops clean & comfortable with a great breakfast plenty to choose from , would stay again .

The location is about a 5 mins, or less walk from Exeter St Davids, and then only another 5 mins into the city. I was made to feel welcome and at ease, from the moment I entered The Telstar. I stayed for two nights in the small single bedroom, which I chose because of being on a tight budget. I really didn't expect much, but I thought it was great! Not sure how they fitted everything into the space, but they did and it felt very comfy. Ensuite with a shower cubical. The bedroom had enough shelf and drawer space for me to unpack. There was proper ground coffee and cafetière in the room – which was very much appreciated! Tasty coffee too :) Also, it was a great surprise when I realised I had breakfast included in my deal. Again, very friendly staff in the breakfast room, and a great choice of help-yourself foods, as well as a menu with a good range of cooked breakfasts. I didn't want a cooked breakfast, but I could see lots of people enjoying them. All in all, I had a great stay at The Telstar and would happily book in again.

I was looking for an affordable single room for my one night stay, this was very homely and welcoming. The room was perfect for what I needed and the decor was classic. Will definitely be coming back next time I’m staying in Exeter. :)

The Telstar is full of thoughtful, personal touches and so welcoming too. You can feel the friendly, warm approach of the owners and staff throughout. The various rooms I've stayed in over the years each have individual style but always comfortable and a great night's sleep. Easy access if arriving after hours and a handy car park as well. A great choice if staying in Exeter!

Very friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was really good and excellent value. Room was clean well stocked with toiletries and tea etc. Really easy reach between university and town. Parking on site is definitely quirky but free and staff are happy to help whenever they can. We are coming back soon with our little dog too.

We had a problem with the reservation, but he reception quickly and swiftly resolved it. The shared bathroom was neat and clean, although we had preferred a private one, this solution was an excellent value for money. The hotel is located at 10mn walking distance from the city center and offer free parking which is definitely a plus.

My 15 year old daughter and myself stayed at Telstar for 2 nights recently. It is the third time we have stayed as we love it so much! The room was lovely and clean, the bed comfortable and the decor a bit lovely and quirky! Veggie cooked breakfast was fab too! It is about a 15 minute walk into the main shopping centre so ideal for us. Def recommended for a lovely weekend stay...thank you!

Initially booked the room then realised it was a shared bathroom. We needn't have worried as everything was fine for us. The room and bathroom were very very clean staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was excellent. Would book again.

My sister and I spent 6 nights here recently while visiting Exeter from the US. We each had a single room and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the breakfasts are delicious, and the location is extremely handy to both the train station and to the town center. We would definitely stay here again, it is a real bargain for the price!

Hotel is perfectly situated for rail travellers on foot to/from Exeter St David's. Single small ensuite room was ideal for a short stay, superb shower, comfy bed. Very good breakfast choice and quality, friendly staff. Telstar will definitely be my preferred choice of accommodation for future stays in Exeter.

Excellent stay.Every member of staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good with a selection of fruits and cereals tea,juices,coffee to which you help yourself.Then you had different choices of cooked breakfastto follow.Slightconcern over shared bathroom and toilet which in fact was not a problem at all. A lovely hotel which is in a good location for the Station, The university and also the city centre. They could accommodate for my wife who is Gluten free and ensured she had a good breakfast. The room was nice and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. The staff were exceptionally pleasant making you really feel at home. We were allowed to store our bags on the last day after checkout as we went into town and had a late train departure

Where made to feel welcome straight away even though we arrived after 9.30pm. We where given some useful advice on how to get round. Excellent facilities, room was clean and well stocked with teas and coffees. Would highly recommend a stay here.

The Telstar is a gem of a guest house situated 5 minutes walk from the city centre. If arriving by train its a short walk up St Davids Hill. If arriving by car there is parking at the rear of the guest house. The room was clean and tidy and the double bed was very comfortable. The room wasn't ensuite so this meant sharing a bathroom but that was no problem at all. The full english breakfast was superb and there was a good selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee, juices etc. Plenty to set you up for the day. The staff were very polite and helpful. I can highly recommend The Telstar to anyone wanting a guest house with character and the personal touch. I am glad i chose to stay here and would do so again if visting Exeter another time. My thanks to all the staff for making my stay such a pleasant one.

The Telstar is a lovely B&B close to the rail station and close to downtown. The beds were comfortable, lots of hot water for showering and great breakfast!

My room was clean, perhaps a little small but perfectly adequate with good facilities.The location was convenient for the city centre.Staff were all very friendly, polite and helpful.Breakfast was excellent both days.I don't go to Exeter very often, but would happily stay at The Telstar again if I do.

My partner & I stayed here for 3 nights from Friday - Monday as we were going to a festival on the Saturday and wanted to make a mini break of our weekend.From the moment we arrived we had a good feeling about the Telstar. We were greeted by people knowledgable about the area, assisted us with on the street parking (we moved to the onsite parking on the second day), and made us feel extremely welcome.For access to Exeter's shops & attractions it is well placed, be aware that Exeter is not flat, not an issue for us though. The rooms are clean, our room was just perfect as a base, bed was comfortable, plenty of tea, coffee etc, great little bathroom & shower, ample storage room for clothes & a case. Not much else you can ask for really!Breakfast was great, plenty of choice, good quality food and sufficient amounts.It's not the Ritz, but it's not the cost of the Ritz. What it is though is clean, comfortable, welcoming, well located, and most of all RECOMMENDED!We would return in a heartbeat if we visit Exeter again.Thank you to all that helped make our stay special.

My room was truly tiny but comfortable (and the shower was great). Breakfast was wonderful; I appreciated that I could get coffee starting at 7!

Ben and Amy have made this establishment a jewel in the crown of Exeters' accommodation services. From day 1 to last day, nothing was too much trouble for them. Their staff are the nicest, kindest, and most thoughtful people we have had the pleasure to meet. The hotel is an old fashioned type of house but the service was second to none. Even though my wife has mobility issues, the balcony overlooking the train station and surrounding countryside made up for the steps up to our room. We breakfasted every morning outside with room service provided, and got back to our room at night looking forward to a great nights sleep in a very comfortable bed.The only downsides to our stay was the lack of a lift, and the bathroom was a bit small.Thanks for a wonderful few days and next time we are in the south west we will be sure to call.Tommy and Noelle

I have stayed at the Telstar every time I've been in Exeter. Our was clean and tidy with everything we needed. Breakfast was lovely. The staff is friendly and very helpful. It is also conveniently located...easy walk to many of the sights...lots of restaurants and shops.

I stopped at the Telestar for my daughter graduation ( at last) I was given room 20 and it was just the right size , nice bed , shower and the views were good of St David’s Hill, lovely historic church nearby, 8/9 minute walk into the city , same time 8/9 walk from the train station so ideal location. Breakfast was just right and lovely. I would recommend it and all of the staff were friendly and helpful .

Had a fun two night stay in the Telstar. It’s a guest house that oozes with quirky character and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. A picture of Basil Fawlty in the foyer sets the tone nicely! The staff were very friendly and the breakfasts were great too. A nod to their green intentions also, which should be applauded. I would definitely stay here again if returning to area.

I was just passing through Exeter, but I had a comfortable stay and a lovely breakfast which set me up for the day.

We stayed in room 10 double ensuite.Only negative is that it was small and hard to find space to leave open 2 carryon size suitcases. Otherwise nice with a private upper deck with a view at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was great and staff helpful. 10 minute walk to town center. Nearby Dinosaur cafe has great Turkish food.

My second time staying at the Telstar, both times in the bijou room 18. Cannot recommend this lovey hotel enough. Staff are so helpful and welcoming and the breakfast was up with the best I have ever encountered at a hotel ( special shoutoutfor the excellent butchers sausage). All for a bargain price. Will continue to use this gem for the next 2 years whilst visiting / dropping off / collecting my daughter from the University.

Staff were very nice. Rooms were nice and clean. The breakfasts in the morning were excellent. The only comment I would say is about sharing of the bathrooms with two other rooms not being ideal but they were perfect.

I completely understand and agree with the good reviews online. The staff were all very lovely and approachable. My room was compact, the decor slightly dated (but as advertised online) and comfortable. This all added to the charm of a staying in a Victorian building. I was a little apprehensive as I'd opted for a shared bathroom but it was clearly marked as designated for two specific rooms only and was clean and well managed. The location was perfect as it was a very short walk from the train station and it was a pity I didn't have more time to stay longer and also to explore the city

A great place for us and our dog to stay for five nights.The real bonus was having parking either on site or with a Residents Permit.Telstar is in easy walking distance for most of the places you would visit in Exeter.The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble.Keep it up everyone.

I booked a small room and stayed for three night. it was compact but comfortable and and clean containinghad a a small table and chair which was a tight fit but comfortable enough to do some writing on my PC. the shared bathroom was clean and there was plenty of hot water for a shower. The full English breakfast was good and the staff courteous and efficient. Also good value for the money.

Their instructions for late check-in were clear and easy to follow.Good night's sleep.They warned the room (16) was small, but it was well laid out and perfectly comfortable for one.Even had a balcony though I didn't have time to use it.Breakfast was excellent: generous, tasty, prompt, and with NO HORRID LITTLE DISPOSABLE PLASTIC CONTAINERS - well done.They were helpful about parking (alas I had to drive, though it's very handy for St David's station.)Telstar will be my first choice if I need to stay in Exeter again.

We had a wonderful time. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The guest house is very charming and decorated so well. It is also well situated. It is so close to St David’s train station and also a 10 minute walk to the city center. The breakfasts were delicious. A lovely b&b within a short walking distance of the centre of Exeter. Free parking was a bonus and we loved the little courtyard garden - a perfect spot for a cold beer after a long journey. Very comfortable room and excellent breakfast.

This was a first visit, picking up our daughter from the university at the end of term. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room on the top floor was quite small, with a very small bathroom, but comfortable (if a bit too warm). A delicious breakfast and a creative car parking arrangement to pack in about 8 cars. We would stay here again.

My fourth stay at the Telstar, still never had a bad experience. Staff attentive and eager, view from the back of the hotel is wonderful, food excellent, bedroom comfortable and well-appointed.

A gem of an establishment in Exeter. This small hotel is central, but quiet. The rooms are simply furnished with comfortable beds and scrupulously clean. The breakfast was good with the use of locally sourced items for the cooked breakfast.I will be returning.

I was welcomed at check-in on Sunday evening after a very short walk from the station. Very convenient location and friendly helpful staff. My room was cosy and pleasant, and spotlessly clean, though I could have done with a desk or dressing table with a socket to work at, and I could hear the traffic which I wasn't used to, but that inevitably goes with a city centre location! The breakfast was outstanding and set me up for the day. Every diet was catered for and the whole setup was environmentally conscious, particularly appreciated that plant based food was provided. Loved the decor and atmosphere of the place. I will definitely be back!

This is a very convenient location with a 5-minute walk from St David's train station and a 10-minute walk from the city centre and cathedral from up the hill. The bus stop for the university is also not too far either. All in all, this has been a very pleasant experience, especially between the two windstorms, Eunice and Franklin. As I stayed for 6 nights, I had booked a double room and am glad I did. I was given Room 19, a comfortable, quiet room at the back of the hotel. The location of Telstar is ideal for anyone using either Exeter St David's or Exeter Central stations. It is also convenient for the city centre and the stunning cathedral.Telstar is a nice, friendly hotel and good value. It is in a great location, has reasonable wi-fi and serves very nice breakfasts.

Well located, comfortable guest house.On-site parking was full, so the staff kindly gave us a residents' permit for the adjacent streets where parking was easy to find even on a Friday evening.Good breakfast options.We have stayed before and would certainly stay again!

We stayed at the Telstar Guest House for 3 nights and was very impressed by all aspects of the hotel. The room was very comfortable and as a bonus had a proper record player and a number of records to go with it. The breakfast was very good with a decent selection of options, it could get a bit busy at peak times however that is to be expected as is with most places. Location was good, only a 10 minute walk to the city centre and 5 minutes to Exeter St Davids station. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

I stayed for 2 nights here. It is a very nice experience. The staff are very friendly and supportive. The breakfast is very good and the place is very clean. It is also close to the train station. I will strongly recommend this place to any traveller.

Large, comfortable, room situated at the back of the hotel away from the other rooms which suited me just fine. Accessed via some steep steps ( drinkers beware ) and a large balcony/terrace which I'm sure was for all guests but felt exclusively mine. Record player with records was an odd, but nice, touch.Good breakfast served by friendly, helpful staff.Hotel located between the 2 Exeter stations withba short walk to city centre, shops, cathedral, river etc

Booking was very easy, an informative email was sent to explain the parking arrangements. The facilities were clean, everything worked as it should, e.g the shower. Breakfast was very good and service was both friendly and helpful.

A warm townhouse welcome, fresh cafetiere coffee in my cosy, comfortable, clean room, delicious breakfasts, and a great position. Perfect for exploring Exeter on foot 5 mins from St Davids station to visit the Exe estuary and coastline. The Telstar is making every effort to minimise waste too.

Stopped for one night to go with my son on a university open day. The room was clean, warm and quiet with comfy beds. Well located for the university and the centre of Exeter. Friendly, helpful staff. Free parking at the back of the hotel was convenient and easy to use.

Fantastic B&B, full of character very clean and the staff were very nice & attentive. We were visiting our Daughter at The Uni Telstar is a great location close to the Uni and the town. The Breakfast was 5 star we will definitely be returning.

Great place to stay, easy access from the station and asuper friendly welcome. Accommodated our baggage whist we explored Exeter the day after. The kids loved that it’s right friendly so met a few new furry friends at breakfast.

I have stayed here a couple of times as a single female traveller on university business. It's a really welcoming place, clean and a little quirky, but not, like, in-your-face quirky. The staff are really nice, there's a great breakfast, and there are small touches that make a big difference (like real coffee in the bedrooms - yes!). Really close to the university campus, too. Definitely my regular place to stay in Exeter.

Well located in the centre of Exeter. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room was equipped with everything to make travelling easy. Breakfast was excellent with dietary alterations accommodated without issue. Our dog was welcomed too, not just allowed. We will return soon.

Our room and en-suite would be described as compact, but we had a balcony and with the sun shining, we sat outside and took in the views of the city. Breakfast was spot on and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. The location is close to the city centre and there is the bonus of the free car parking at the rear of the building. We'll be back if we are ever in Exeter again.

We liked the decor very much, especially the tiles in the shower of room no 2.Telstar is within easy reach of the centre and the station. With an early flight to catch we just had a short downhill walk to catch the shuttle bus.

I stayed in room 17 for one night.The room was clean,comfortable and had a very good shower. Breakfast was fine and overall a very pleasant stay.

We stayed for two nights in room 19. The room was quite small but was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Check in and checkout was easy. Breakfast both days was delicious. I would highly recommend.

Stayed in one of the ground floor rooms at the Telstar. It has parking at the back and is in an ideal spot to access town or country, walking, cycling or in your car. You should aim to get a room on the upper floors if you can - the lower one we stayed in was a little noisy at times and the television and bathroom basic - also a damp smell in the bathroom was off putting when you first go in, but it dissipated after a while once the extractor fan had been on for a minute or so. The breakfasts were excellent and the staff cheerful, which raises the rating somewhat. These days finding a room in Exeter can be difficult, so all in all a reasonable stay.

We stayed overnight with friends. The hotel is very quirky it has an individual style. It was very clean. The breakfast was excellent and very good value for money. If you like something a little different and not so corporate this is the place for you.

Telstar is very clean and comfortable with a retro feel about it, due to the decor (intentional, not dated or scruffy). Staff are all very pleasant and helpful. Room well equipped and furnished ( ask for no 10, it has a private deck with great views).

My Daughter and myself were in Exeter settling grandson in to uni. We had a long journey from Chester the previous day and didn't have a good stay the night before in a previous hotel. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at The Telstar. The room had been tastefully decorated and all needs catered for. Also an excellent breakfast.We will stay again on our next visit to see "our student"

This is my second stay at Telstar and definitely recommend. Very welcoming and accommodating. I needed to change my booking a few days prior and bring it ahead a day and they did this for me with no hassle whatsoever.Parking is quite tricky and being full meant that I had to find space on the road, although I was provided with a permit. It took a little patience to find a space - but that is normal in Exeter.The room was clean and exactly as described. The bed was comfortable. I had a good night sleep and enjoyed the breakfast which was served by a very smiley, polite and lovely lady.

Room was very clean and tidy, with everything that we needed. The ensuite shower room though small was adequate with lovely hot water and soft towels.We were at the back of the property and overlooking the railway, however were very quiet.Staff were all charming and efficient. We had a very pleasant stay.

Excellent staff received you with a smile and they went out of their way to make sure they could help you any way. Breakfast full selection. My room was up to very high standard.

We came with our two 11 year old boys and 6 month old boxer puppy.The room was adequate for a one night stay as a family room, very clean and all the amenities needed for our short stay.The breakfast was an extra £10 for all four of us and it was brilliant, lovely choice and the staff really couldn’t be any more accommodating.Even our Bruiser had some sausage whilst he sat with us for breakfast.We absolutely will return here, if we stayed for a longer stay we would opt for the bigger room where boys had a bit more space but other than that no complaints from us, and a far better experience than what our friends had from another dog friendly establishment nearby.

We stayed here for one night in August with our dog on our way to Cornwall.Staff were very welcoming and helpful and the room and shared bathroom very clean.It is not luxurious and the room not large but perfectly comfortable and very convenient to walk into city centre.Also close to rail station.Breakfast was very good.

Stayed the one night. Was surprised at how cheap it was to book for a Saturday night at late notice and the room was comfy and had everything I needed. Staff lovely and the breakfast was included which was amazing. Will definitely go again when I’m back in Exeter

Friendly, Clean, Comfortable and conveniently placed for a short walk to the riverside pubs and eateries.We were only there for a stop over on the way South and had to leave very early the next day but will definitely be back for a proper stay in the future.

We were looking for central accommodation for one night that was dog friendly and had suitable rooms for our family (2 adults and 3 children) - we certainly found this at the Telstar.We felt really welcomed, rooms were really clean and the breakfast was great.Overall a really great stay and we would definitely return.

Was a nice comfortable safe place and had a nice vegetarian breakfast which came with the booking of the room. The bed was very comfortable and also had a nice shower. Had to attend a funeral over the 2-day stay and was a very worthwhile stay. I do recommend this place if you travel alone and want a safe place to stay. When I come back to the area again I will rebook. Always go in life where you are treated best is my Golden rule.

Friendly welcome. And the staff took our luggage in even though it was too early to check in. The rooms were spotlessly clean anf i loved the quirkiness of the place. Perfectlocation. The breakfast was awesome too. Definitely recommend.

We somehow managed to drive right past the hotel but when I rang up to say we were lost, I was directed to the car park by a member of staff who even stood outside to wave us in. Really lovely staff, felt very safe and welcome here and nothing seemed too much trouble. Two ways to walk into town, we preferred going there via the road opposite but either way probably took 10 minutes. No noise from the hotel at night, never heard a thing. Would stay again.

the dining room and lounge areas at the Telstar are full on boutique hotel with details and quirks which set it apart as a boutique option.some of the accommodation could do with a refresh but I'm assuming they're gradually updating the decor room by room to come up to the standard of the common spaces.breakfast was perfect, staff cheerful and helpful - with a spruce up of those older rooms this will be a five star option for anyone wanting to be a few minutes walk from the centre of Exeter. we loved this place and would definitely book again if we are visiting the city again.

We arrived in a rush heading to a wedding and the staff at The Telstar could not have been more helpful and welcoming. They got us into the room a little earlier so we could be on time and even made us some last minute lunch! Really helped our trip be less stressful and the room and breakfast were great too. Would definitely stay again next time we're in Exeter.

We stayed for one night as a stop over and what a lovely place. The staff are very helpful and friendly the room was clean and comfortable and a good breakfast selection from fruit to a full English. Good location only a 5 minute walk into Exeter and free parking round the back.

Friendly staff and shared bathroom had another toilet next door, so never a queue and could have a shower before bed. Very hot as no air con or fan in easy access but perfect for normal temperatures.

We had booked to stay in the Annexe which meant we had two bedrooms, a bathroom and a garden to ourselves.It was very clean and welcoming.The breakfasts were lovely and filling.The only thing I would say is that there was a definite lack of storage space.We were only there for a couple of nights and barely had room to store our clothes so for anyone staying longer there would have been no hope.All-in-all a lovely hotel.I would not hesitate to stay again.

We usually stop in the centre of Exeter but fancied a change and so pleased we did. Lovely B&B with lots of personal touches from the fresh ground coffee in the rooms to the home made bread available for breakfast. The owners seem to have gone above and beyond what a standard B&B usually offers. We had the best nights sleep on the huge bed in room 2, which overlooks the courtyard, it was so peaceful and the bed linen was super soft. I even tried checking the mattress for a label to see what make it was! Had a selection of different teas, cafeteria and hot chocolate in the rooms and good quality complimentary shampoos etc too. Just a short walk into Exeter Town centre and there's a pub within a few minutes walk from the B&B if you don't fancy going into town in the evening. Unexpected find that we'll definitely be stopping at again when next visiting Exeter.

The Room we stayed in was clean and tidy and a great access point to getting to the centre. For one night it was perfect but if you are looking for more out of your stay I would recommend elsewhere. The amenities are fairly standard but the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was excellent.There was a slight key issue but the hotel staff were very quick to help remedy the situation.Overall, a great place to stay for one or two nights if you don't plan to spend too much time in your room.

We spent four comfortable nights at the Telstar in Exeter. The room was lovely, spacious and very clean. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was absolutely excellent. It is positioned perfectly for a visit to the city as it's a short walk to the train station and only a fifteen minute walk to the historic centre of Exeter. I would highly recommend the Telstar when visiting Exeter.

The Telstar is a very comfortable hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and made me feel at home. Breakfast was nutritious, delicious and filling, using locally sourced ingredients. It is near enough to town to walk in (15 minutes) and far enough out to feel restful. Had a lovely time there with my dog.

The Telstar is a short walk from Exeter St.David's railway station and well located for the City centre.I had a one night stay in room 21.Although small it was perfectly adequate for my needs with a comfy bed and nice shower.I would definitely recommend the Telstar and look forward to a return visit soon.

Our daughter is heading for uni in Exeter this year, so we visited the campus and looked around the town. The Telstar was an ideal place to stay. It is well located, the beds are comfy, breakfast is varied, staff are friendly and efficient and you can park for free.

I stayed here with my daughter to visit the university and can thoroughly recommend it. We were able to explore the city centre on foot within minutes in one direction and walk to the uni campus in 15/20 minutes the other direction.The hotel itself was comfortable and clean with lovely features such as a record player in the room and mis-matched lampshades etc.The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly.

From check in to leaving the car park we were met with experienced, attentive staff. The hotel has a lovely unique feel and lots of communal spaces to enjoy. Breakfast was great and only improved by the table service. We would definitely return when next in Exeter.
