We aim to cater for the needs of all of our guests and visitors to The Telstar.
The Telstar Hotel is a late Victorian townhouse located in the centre of Exeter offering quality bed and breakfast accommodation.
The following statement is a summary of our provision.

Directions on how to find us
By Bus
There is a bus stop which is serviced by a frequent local service on Hele Road approximately 1-2 minutes away by foot.
From the Bus and Coach Station
There is a 24 hour taxi rank at the Bus and Coach Station. The journey will take approximately 5 minutes and will cost in the region of £5.00. If you prefer to walk, it will take about 15 minutes. On leaving the Bus and Coach Station, turn right onto Paris Street and walk up the hill to the traffic lights. At the traffic lights, turn left onto the High Street. Walk along the High Street until you come to Marks & Spencer. Here you will need to turn right onto Queen Street. Continue to walk along Queen Street until you come to the Clock Tower, here you will need to turn left onto New North Road. Turn left again at the first traffic light onto Hele Road. Follow Hele Road down until you come to a small roundabout. We are located just off the roundabout.
By Train
Exeter St Davids
We are located an approximate 5 minute walk from Exeter St Davids Railway Station. On leaving the station, walk straight across the road. You will see a notice directing you to the City Centre; follow this pathway which will take you to St Davids Hill. At the top of the pathway turn right onto St Davids Hill and continue up the hill until you see a mini roundabout. We are located just before the roundabout on your right.
Please Note: St Davids Hill is very steep and if you have difficulty walking, or have heavy bags to carry, you may prefer to take a taxi or a local bus. There is a 24-hour taxi rank located at Exeter St Davids Railway Station. The journey will take approximately 2-3 minutes and cost in the region of £4.00.
Exeter Central
The Telstar is located approximately 10 minute walk from Exeter Central Railway Station. On leaving the station, turn right onto Queen Street and continue to walk along Queen Street until you come to the Clock Tower. Here you will need to turn left onto New North Road. Turn left again at the first traffic light onto Hele Road. Follow Hele Road down until you come to a small roundabout. We are located just off the roundabout.
If you have heavy bags you may prefer to take a taxi. The journey will cost approximately £3.00 and will just take a couple of minutes. Please note there is not a designated taxi rank at the station so you may have to book a taxi in advance.

From Exeter Airport
The Telstar is located approximately 20 minutes car journey from Exeter Airport, depending upon traffic. Please follow the directions from the M5 as detailed below. If you take a taxi the cost will be in the region of £15.00. There is also a bus service that runs into Exeter. The service numbers are Service 56 and Service 379. Alternatively, there is an airport TaxiBus Service which is the the airport based taxi company and operates a TaxiBus to Exeter St. Davids Railway Station and the Coach Station on demand between the 56 and 379 services. A minimum of 3 people are required for this service, (£5 per person). Taxi rates apply at other times.
From the M5
Leave the M5 at Junction 29 and take the road signposted Exeter. At traffic lights turn right onto Honiton Road - B3183 and head for the City Centre. Drive through the City Centre on B3183 signposted Tiverton & Crediton. Continue on main road. At the Clock Tower roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto New North Road, signposted Crediton and St Davids Station. At the next traffic lights, turn left onto Hele Road towards St Davids Station. Follow Hele Road down until you come to a mini roundabout. You will see The Telstar in front of you. To access our car park follow the path beside the Oakcliffe Hotel just in front of you and follow the signs to the Telstar parking.
From A30 and A303 from the East (Honiton)
Follow the directions as detailed from the M5.
From A30 and A38 from the West (South Devon and Cornwall)
From the A30 at the Alphington Junction, branch left (signposted Exeter), then at the roundabout take the first exit onto the A377 (signposted Exeter). Continue along the A377 and under the railway bridge through 2 sets of traffic lights. Then take the 3rd exit onto Bonhay Road (signposted Crediton). Continue along Bonhay Road past Exeter St Davids Train Station which will be on your left until you come to a mini roundabout.
Turn right onto St Davids Hill (signposted City Centre). Continue up St Davids Hill to a mini roundabout. The Telstar is situated on your right. To access our car park follow the path down the side of the Oakcliffe Hotel and follow the signs to the Telstar parking.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
On arrival at The Telstar please walk into the main entrance. On the right hand-side of the front door is a security intercom system. Please ring the reception bell. A member of staff will check you into the hotel show you to your room and assist you with your luggage .You will then be shown to our parking area which is located at the rear of the building. If you have parked already there is a rear entrance with access to The Telstar using your room key.
Car parking at The Telstar is free but there is limited availability. We ask that you park sensibly and with consideration for other guests and their vehicles, taking up a forward space if available and leaving your keys at reception if you are blocking in another car.
The car park is level and flat with a smooth tarmac surface. However, when accessing the hotel from the car park you will need to walk through a passage with 5 steps and our patio garden which has several small steps and then into the rear of the hotel. Please note you will then be on the lower ground floor and depending on which bedroom you have been allocated will have a one or two flights of stairs to negotiate (unless you have a ground floor room). Unfortunately, due to the age and style of the building in is not possible for us to install a lift.
For guests with mobility difficulties the ground floor bedrooms are more easily accessed through the door of 75 St Davids Hill with one step. Please ask a member of staff for more information.
The Telstar car park is monitored by CCTV.
Main Entrance & Reception
The main entrance of the Telstar is up steps. The Reception is open between the hours of 7:30am and 10:00pm. Arrivals after this time are by prior arrangement only. Guests staying at the Telstar will be issued with a key to both their bedroom and the main front door. This key also opens the door to the Fort Williams Guest House which is part of The Telstar. If you need assistance please contact the reception through the front door intercom or telephone. Using the Telstar front door, walk straight ahead through the hallway to the reception. The door entrance is 80cm wide and the width of the hallway is approximately 86cm. The main entrance and ground floor communal areas have stained wooden floorboards, while all the bedrooms and corridors are carpeted.
Public Areas ~ General (Internal)
Dining Room
Tables have an under-space of 68 cm, by 62 cm wide and a height of 73 cm.
The Dining Room has stained wooden floorboards.
We cater for vegetarians and vegans and, with prior arrangement, other special dietary requirements. Background music is played during breakfast in the dining room.
Laundry
There is a laundry service available at The Telstar. Please speak to the receptionist for the tariff.

Grounds and Gardens
We have a small outdoor patio area between the Telstar and the Fort William Guest House. Access to the patio area is via the breakfast room and 3 steps.
From our car park there are terrific views and smokers are able to use that area.

Bedrooms
We have twenty bedrooms in total. Three of which are located on the ground floor (two in Fort William and one off the car park at the rear).
Additional Information
The Telstar has a No Smoking Policy in the two properties and the patio area between them.
Assistance dogs are welcome.
Complimentary Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the building.
